With gym closures, work from home policies and social distancing measures in place, many of us are turning to apps and online programs to help keep us fit during this time.

As tempting as it might be to get caught up with binging Netflix (Joe Exotic, we’re looking at you), putting some time aside each day to exercise is essential not only for our physical wellbeing, but also a great way to release some of those feel-good endorphins and keep spirits high.

We’ve pulled together some great (and free) online exercise classes and apps that can be effortlessly weaved into your daily routine and followed with very little, or no, equipment and without having to leave the comfort of your own home.

Thanyapura Health & Sports Resort

Home to world-class trainers, this Phuket-based health and sports resort (and Accela client) is streaming twice daily fitness classes on Facebook. The easy to follow sessions include high energy HIIT, Muay Thai, yoga and more. Filmed with the beautiful backdrop of Thanyapura, you can virtually transport yourself to the sunny Thai island of Phuket.

Online schedules are released on a weekly basis and sessions can be followed live via Facebook or watched at your leisure.

Joe Wicks

The UK’s legend of online HIIT workouts, Joe Wicks (aka, the Body Coach) has been offering free online HIIT classes on his YouTube channel for years and has really seen a boom in followers over the last couple of weeks. With his great banter and an infectious smile, his classes are super easy and fun to follow and range from beginner through to more challenging sessions.

Nike

Nike’s premium Training Club app and Nike Run Club app are currently offering free access and content. The Training Club app offers a huge variety of yoga and HIIT sessions. From short six-minute sessions, to full athlete programmes, all led by Nike instructors, the app also offers seven-minute total-body desk detoxes, so there is literally no excuse not to be squeezing some fitness into your day.

The Nike Run Club app offers monthly running challenges for free, as well as the option to challenge friends to weekly or monthly challenges. Maybe now is the perfect time to start training for that half marathon you have always been putting off?

Down Dog App

Also offering free access and content, Down Dog includes a great line up of yoga classes for all levels. If you’re looking to get into yoga for the first time, the app offers easy step by step classes with easy to follow videos. For those who are keen yogis, the app offers over 60,000 different configurations, so you won’t have to worry about repeating any of the sessions.
