Supporting Your Local Hospitality Community In A Time Of Crisis

Cropped_Supporting Hospitality.png

While Singapore has so far been spared the drastic measures of forced closures facing many bars and restaurants around the world, there’s no denying that now is a difficult time for all industries – with hospitality taking one of the hardest hits. From work from home notices to forced quarantines and recommended social distancing, bars and restaurants are seeing an inevitable decline in customers. Unlike many jobs which can be done remotely, bar and restaurant employees are completely out of work if their venues aren’t open – working from home really isn’t an option.

With hospitality as our speciality at Accela Communications, our hearts are breaking for our industry partners in Singapore and beyond who are doing their best during this challenging time. So, what can we all do to help?

We’ve seen great stories in the media over the last few weeks about what we can do to support (check out a few examples here and here), and wanted to share some of our favourite tips that we’re putting into practice.

Go Out To Eat And Drink, If You Can

Bars and restaurants across Singapore are following government protocols for increased sanitation measures, so if you’re feeling healthy – head out, responsibly!

Leave A Review

Help raise awareness and raise the spirits of your favourite venues by leaving them a nice review.

Buy Gift Certificates

If you’re practicing social distancing, purchase a gift card that gives a venue income now, and you can redeem it when life starts to get back to normal.

Order Takeaway

Just because you’re staying in doesn’t mean you’re completely on your own for food and drinks. If your favourite bar or restaurant is offering home delivery, this is a great option to continue supporting them – and don’t forget to tip your drivers!

Above all, remember to be kind and patient with service industry employees. This is a stressful situation for everyone, and a little compassion can go a long way.
